Sinodrink special report: Terroir Renaissance International Wine Symposium

 

From Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, 2018, the Third International Wine Symposium ( short form "Terroir Conference" ) was successfully held in Shanghai. With the annual theme of "Territory and Grape Varieties", the conference once again raised the scale and influence to a new height, which has aroused great repercussions among Chinese wine lovers and professionals. Sinodrink partecipated with its six famous winery which are: Damilano, Masciarelli, Canalicchio di Sopra, Falesco, Feudi di San Gregorio and San Leonardo. International Terroir Seminar

Terroir refers to all the natural conditions and human civilization associated with a region. Great wine is the result of the interaction between nature and human beings in time and space. Learning local concepts and practices is the key to understand and share the fine wine culture.

Nearly 300 Chinese wine industry elites and wine enthusiasts gathered at this conference to listen to nine hours local culture lessons from more than 20 top local leaders and experts around the world, and share their research results and experiences on the cutting edge of grape varieties.

The majority of regions has a Mediterranean climate.

Many grape varieties have been misidentified and misunderstood by winemakers and growers in Italy. For example, Vermentino, Pigato and Favorita are the same grape varieties after genetic tests. Now, fruit growers grow these varieties in a mixed vineyard.
